About Me
Whitney Dickinson is a self-taught book artist and has been researching historical book structures and binding books since 1994. Her main interests are Low Countries’ white books (alum-tawed and blind tooled) and technical investigations of binding structures. She has studied with Jim Croft, who she considers to be an artistic genius. After studying at the Medieval Congress in Kalamazoo, she was inspired to begin writing an article based on her research at the Biblioteca Civica Angelo Mai in Bergamo, Italy. Her teaching experience around the Pacific Northwest includes topics on various historical styles. The current obsession is researching historical wheat cultivars and reproducing wheat starch for paste, as well as Florentine Renaissance scholars’ bindings. She lives in Lynden, WA with two tiny dogs, two fat cats, one sweet son and one cranky husband.
